Bank accounts for crypto companies

Last updated October 11, 2026

We place exchanges, OTC desks, wallets, miners and crypto-adjacent companies, in the US and abroad, with banks that will review an operating account. Expect the bank to ask whether you're a money transmitter under FinCEN's 2019 guidance and to see your registration if you are. We build the file. The bank decides. Approval is never guaranteed.

We place payment processing, business banking and crypto rails for high-growth, complex businesses with institutions that take the industry, then watch the chargeback ratios, reserves and reviews that get accounts closed, with more than one rail so one bank's no doesn't stop the business. Approval is never guaranteed.

Who it's for

  • Exchanges that need an operating account
  • OTC desks
  • Wallets and infrastructure companies
  • Miners and other crypto-adjacent operating companies

What the bank needs

  • Licenses and registrations you actually hold
  • Who your customers are
  • How fiat enters and leaves
  • How you screen customers and payments
  • Prior banking, including closures

This is one of four crypto services we place. The others are on- and off-ramps, stablecoin settlement, and OTC or exchange accounts. Card acquiring for buying crypto is not one of the four.

What will a bank ask a crypto company?

First, what you are under FinCEN's rules. FinCEN's 2019 guidance says exchangers and administrators of convertible virtual currency are generally money transmitters, while users aren't (FIN-2019-G001). Money transmitters must register with FinCEN within 180 days of starting and renew every two years (31 CFR 1022.380). State licensing is separate.

Can US banks bank crypto companies?

Yes. The OCC confirmed in March 2025 that national banks may provide crypto custody, certain stablecoin activities and blockchain node participation, and removed its prior non-objection requirement (OCC, Mar 7, 2025). Whether a given bank wants your business is still its own call.

How do we help?

We're not a bank, processor, or money transmitter. We structure the deal, build the file, and place it with institutions in our network: decades of relationships with 40+ financial institutions and solution providers. The bank decides, and approval is never guaranteed.
